GEOFFREY KING (Randolph) Well, like the bad penny, Geoffrey returns. Shorn of both ears and the tail and not to mention those over-prominent teeth, he exchanges one Dream for another. To say that he is surprised by this precipitate re-appearance would be an understatement but as ever he is highly delighted and honored to tread these boards. Yet again he wishes to assure you that he is capable of employing accents other than his apparently native Brit-speak, though to date, there has been little demand for his authentic Glaswegian brogue! Other than his three roles at TJ, he has appeared in over fifty productions both here in the USA and in the UK. Particularly fond memories are of playing; Gary Essendine in Present Laughter; Able in Sly Fox; Reverend John Hale in The Crucible; Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest; Prospero in Return to the Forbidden Planet; Eric in Cash on Delivery; Norman in The Norman Conquests; Gaston in Picasso at the Lapin Agile; and Aubrey Allington in Tons of Money. He continues to entertain the naïve and increasingly unlikely dream that he will, despite having neither pumped gas nor been employed as a waitress, be discovered! As ever he is deeply grateful for the tolerance and comradeship of the Director, cast and crew and to his long-suffering family.
MICHAEL R. LIPP (Warren Zimmerman) has directed and performed in nearly sixty productions since moving to Jacksonville from his home state of Connecticut over twenty years ago. Michael has directed over 30 local plays and musicals, including last season’s Theatre Jacksonville Best Production of the Year, Enchanted April, along with God’s Man in Texas, A Shayna Maidel (which also won our Best Production of the Year Award), and Epic Proportions, along with a number of our hit musicals She Loves Me, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Pajama Game, and City of Angels. Michael is also incredibly excited to be directing the wondrous and magical musical The Secret Garden at Theatre Jacksonville this coming spring. He has appeared a number of times on the Theatre Jax stage as well, including his most recent portrayal of Horton the Elephant in the musical, Seussical (Best Actor Award nomination), and the title character in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, for which he won our Best Actor Award. He also earned a Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in our production of Dancing at Lughnasa, and was nominated for his role in The Little Foxes. Michael was also seen this past summer as Sheriff Reynolds in the Players by-the-Sea award-winning ensemble of the hit musical Bat Boy. Michael received his Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from Vanderbilt University and he currently teaches Algebra II Honors and Geometry Honors at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. In his "free" time, he is proud to sing with the Orange Park Chorale under the direction of his voice teacher, Dr. Carole Clifford, and maintains his own personal website at www.mrlipp.com.
LUCIE ROBERTS (Amanda Waslyk) making her Theatre Jacksonville debut, has been a regular at Players by the Sea for five years. She has been in many performances for the PBTS Education Program, such as Oz, Peter Pan, Strega Nona Meets Her Match, Alice In Wonderland, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Pretty Good Magic, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Lucie made her first main stage PBTS appearance in the musical, The Goodbye Girl, which was followed up by performances in Auntie Mame, Inspecting Carol, Cavedweller (first ABET production), and All the Way Home. Lucie is an 8th grader at LaVilla School of the Arts and loves creative writing, singing, and acting.
SHIRLEY SACKS (Miriam Waslyk) returns to the stage after appearing as Sheila in The Boys Next Door here at T.J. Past favorite roles include Squeaky Fromme (Assassins), Audrey (Little Shop of Horrors), Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), and Bobbi/Gabby (City of Angels). Directing credits include BAT BOY, Leading Ladies, Seussical, Urinetown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Accidental Felon and currently FOOTLOOSE, a Stanton College Preparatory musical, running here at Theatre Jacksonville for three nights beginning Thursday November 29th at 7:30 p.m. When not here, she is home with her fabulously talented husband David, who is busy at work on his third play, and their 3 amazing children Sam, Nick and Katie. Her other favorite role is “Drama Mama” to her incredible theatre students at Stanton College Preparatory. She has really enjoyed being directed by the gifted and intuitive Staci Cobb and sharing the stage with her good friend Michael (Mailman Warren) who actually introduced Shirley and David fourteen years ago! This one is for Katie, who has shown me just how awesome it is to have a daughter!.
